As I sit here watching the intro to the Mexico, South Africa game and seeing the beautiful views of soccer city, I can't help but to cry like a little bitch. I have been looking forward to this day ever since my brother went to France '98 to support our beloved Albirroja. I did rearrange quite a bit in my life so that I could have this privilege, namely graduating in 4 years (I never would have tried that hard otherwise, honestly) and saving up thousands of dollars, but my work is nothing compared to that of the South Africans. South Africans have been waiting for this day for 6 years. They have been waiting to prove the world wrong and show that they can be the first African nation in history to host the World Cup. They faced setbacks that left many people doubting, but here we are today seeing these aerial shots of soccer city packed with 90,000 beautiful people. I feel honored to soon be one of the attendees! I won't get into how excited I am from a development perspective, but I do hope the World Cup is just a step towards the great things to come. Unfortunately, Nelson Mandela can't make the game or the opening ceremonies due to the tragic death of his 13 year old granddaughter, but his hard work leading up to this day will never be forgotten.

So now... South Africa versus Mexico.

So over x-mas break, I accidentally took home my friend's bowl. I thought my mom had found it and confiscated it (which I'm still pretty sure is exactly what happened.) The kid was finally like, "I need my bowl back... if you can't get it, you can just buy me a new one." So I was like, fuck, time to pay up. But then I decided to just shame myself in front of my mother and be like, MOM, I need that back or I have to pay this kid. Because Latinos understand $$ as much as they do anger (and she's probably somewhat happy that it didn't actually belong to me,) she was like, okay I'll get it to Bernice for her to take tomorrow. I was like, LOL, thanks mom.

was fantastic.

I went over to Jacy's and had some delicious vegetarian tacos, sat around and LOLed @ politics, yuppies, shitty movies, and of course my "dear ol' UVa."

UVa might be the second best public school in the U.S., but it's pretty horrible at this thing called "school of life." All those spoiled suburbanites go to UVa and learn just about nothing about the world and what people are really like because UVa is a gigantic bubble of assholes who are exactly the same. Tragic, no?

After Jacy's, I headed over to O'Sullivan's, most definitely my favorite bar in Clarendon. The bartender is the best I've ever had and it's usually pretty mellow on Monday nights. There's always soccer on TV and the music is nothing I particularly hate. We met a bunch of "blokes" from the U.K. who tried to talk us (Cami and me,) out of going to class/work tomorrow. They were hilarious. We talked about everything from driving in Arlington to the Falkland Islands War to how Arsenal is still the greatest football team in the UK (fuck Chelsea.) It was a great night, and I got a free Shock Top (or 2,) my favourite beer at the moment.

I'll be back in Charlottesville in less than 14 hours. NOOOOOOOOo

My life is pretty easy right now... no joke. Looking forward to graduating and not doin' SHIT. Trying to party really hard this summer and say goodbye to my youth... 'Cause let's be real, it's gonna be over quite soon.

The only thing stressing me out is my mother. She makes my life pretty difficult without even knowing it. UVa degree, no arrests, no pregnancies... I'm a huge disappointment, right? Sorry Ma, UMMA DO ME.

I gotta go back to school in 2 days. Not looking forward to it. My housing is overpriced, one roommate is pissed at me, the other moved out cause of her dumbass boyfriend, now I'm living with a rando-new age-natural juice detox- type from Seattle. WTF?

It's all good though 'cause I'm taking a soccer class, I joined a bball team, working too many hours a week, my classes are tough, I'm gonna be goin' hard (partying.) So, I'll be too busy to give a F about anything.

I'm gonna go appease the beast by trying to learn how to make sopa paraguaya...

So... in recent news...

There was a snow storm of a foot and a half. I played in the snow yesterday with Irma. I almost froze. I came home to a bottle La Finca Malbec and some queso.

So last night I went to my first BOLICHE in Santiago del Estero. About an hour into it (at about 4 a.m. because it did not open until 2 so we had to reroute and go to a bar until 2 30,) I got hardcore nostalgic for BsAs and certain people ... sigh...

So then I made some stupid decisions (of course, I am a PAREDES,) and ended up spending the first half of the day (so until 4 p.m.) trying not to puke my guts out.

BUT THEN Pablo, our super cute, nice, local friend who stayed out until 8 a.m. and then woke up like 5 hours later to ref a soccer game invited us to go watch. So we went to a field and sat next to a bunch of dudes who were watching this game, listening to music, and drinking fernet. Basically, it was my dream come true and none of them were even remotely sexy (okay LIE one of the was super hot and knew 2 words in Guarani... nde rakore and yaja (spelling?) Shit I am at a cafe and have one minute.

So tonight I had to say bye to all my grandma, aunts, uncles, cousins, kiddies, etc., and be it the sidra, (a fermented apple drank,) or the fact that I'm PMSing, (yes, I will have my PERIOD in BA, kill me,) or a combination of both, I starting crying like a pussy. After everyone left, of course.

LUCKILY, that means I headed straight to my computer to be on the internetz, my SAVEHAVEN, stuffing ALFAJORES in my mouth, (OH YEAH, I'm no longer a vegan... for 2 months...) and I opened an e-mail from Ms. Plotkin with this.

I've been laughing for 30 minutes. LOL, LOL, ROFL. I'm leaving for Buenos Aires in i6 hours... I'm sad to leave Paraguay, but I can't wait to be surrounded by "KUREPAS..." the "pig skin" that (most) Paraguayans hate so much.

IN SUMMARY:
My flight to ATL got delayed so the bitches at DELTA sent me to Dulles from National (no, NOT REAGAN, NATIONAL,) on a cab and I caught a direct flight to Sao Paulo. Lucky for me cause I met this awesome guy on the plane.
MIGUEL, he had 3 passports, ~envidia~
PAT, he had a sleeve, it was really well done, and now you need to get one ASAP 'cause they're so hot.

OKAY, anyways, then I had to wait in Sao Paulo for 7 hours. I watched 2 soccer games, slept, drank, smoked, played on my 'puter, and took pictures. Then I finally got to Paraguay after meeting the cutest Canadian couple who's coming to Paraguay to visit some Aunts and Uncles who immigrated from Germany in the late 1940s (SURPRISE, SURPRISE.) It's their first time in South America... I was like "Good luck..." (don't get robbed.)

First thing I did was go to a "despedida de soltera" only Paraguay style, so just a bunch of women sitting around giving a bride to be HOUSE CLEANING supplies. I wish I was joking, but I said loudly to the table "now I'm definitely not getting married."

Then today was my Aunt's birthday, so it was family overload with about 45 kids running around. People here really like kids. It's weird. I mean, I like cool ones, but kids to me are like normal people... I still don't feel like googoogagaing over people I don't find interesting. Oh well!

okay but anyways,

last night I went to the IMP ball... pictures will be posted soon and you'll laugh. My theme was moulin rouge and i looked like a total puta. the party was weird, they ran out of fruit early, the music wasn't too great, i saw some guy there from my major and it was awkward, and a lot of the people sucked basically. SO THEN i went to some blah blah hipster party and met some chic named rina who's from wakefield high school/arlington and we just mad chilled.

SO TODAY I did nothing until i got up and went to the grocery store... took a nap... went over to eric's and he and betty made dinner while i watched and did nothing... it was green curry with tofu and delicious veggies and rice and then they made bubble tea (WTF right?) Then spoke to one of the contacts in Argentina over the phone and she was really cool. Basically, it was awesome. Then I went to Andrew's to study concrete. That didn't really happen... We had a great convo about the great things that make minority life growing up so great (such as the term "uncle" for your parent's cousins, (actually knowing your parent's cousin,) this ridiculous sense of community and family (and actually knowing your parents love you... lol,) gardens that our grandmas and moms have, great food, great, great food, and so many other things I totally forgot about. (In response: yeah but they have $. ... yeah it's like "hey man, i got a ps3" and i'm like ohhhh sick)

Okay this weekend was a weird combination of really shitty and really chill. Friday I chilled with some drivers and then went to a party on Elliewood and it was interesting.

Yesterday was FOXFIELD, so I drove some friends there and I think Tegan's friend was thinking about peeing in my car. I was like... what? It was actually pretty fun just driving them there, then going to a lake w/ Clare and friend, getting sunburnt, drinking, etc., then going SHOPPING w/ Laura! I got a demin jacket for 8 dollars! pictures later maybe.

Then I passed out... and woke up and was like WTF am I gonna do tonight? Then Chris came over and we took a walk and met up with Jose. Then we ended up just chillin all night, it was CHILL! And then I watched some PLANET EARTH and passed out.

Now I have a meeting from 12 - 3... and another one at 7:30! YAY SUNDAYS!

Oh, also, my bike is back in action! I missed my green baby!!! Damnit, I'm buying a camera TODAY! (or...tomorrow!)

SO YESTERDAY,

I had a semester project due, and the presentation for it is tomorrow (KILL ME.)
Then a lovely lady, MARGUERITE, picked up my shift so I could sleep, then wake up and go to another meeting 4 my Argentina trip. I e-mailed some of the contacts and they all seem like ~GATAS~. I'm so excited, and they're both women which makes me a lot more comfortable for some reason. First of all, I can't work with an Argentinian man in a leadership position (for many reasons,) and even though they aren't engineers, its just cool to work under the guidance of ~una strong~ mujer.

Anyways, after the meeting, went to Tegan's and we watched some crap on TV.

Then I came home and I watched the KRAZIEST thing I've seen all ... month perhaps.

somehow I ended up with a cigarette burn on my face... but whatever...

FRIDAY - Cara told me to check out OBL on Friday, so I met up with her in the parking lot and we hung out with a bunch of friends and I'm stoked to live with her next year. Then I ran over to 14th St. (I don't know how I managed this, but I'm assuming some nice bus drivers gave me a few courtesey stops...) and saw St. God's Hospital. I was excited, there were tons of people there that I know and like, but I was like MUST GET BACK TO OBL. Went back, hung out and all of a sudden CHANTEL and MICHAEL K. were outside. It was awesome.

Then C. and I got into thangz and hung out with some people in this C-ville band. We just watched some trippy movie and sat around, and eventually headed back to her place in the rain where I proceeded to eat a peanut butter sandwich and pass out on the couch across from some naked dude who's getting married this week or something. (I have ... no idea.)

SATURDAY - King's Dominion. Awesome, but the weather sucked. Wish their rides were sicker, but "THE CRYPT" is the SICKEST non-coaster ride EVER... hoooollllyyyy shit.

After this, I went back to Arlington and hung out with my parents and my rats and cami.

SUNDAY - EASTER. best day ever. woke up to my mom screaming "GET UP, GET UP, YOUR AUNT IS HERE GO CHANGE." (I sleep on the couch when I'm home because I like it better than my bed.) So then I chilled with TEAM PARAGUAY (this includes JACY) + cami + saffi + miguel for like 2 minutes, and we all had a good time. I ate a lot.

MONDAY - Dad wakes me up to get inspection. Told him I had to be at my 1 0'clock class. He says, OK we'll be done by 10:30. FALSE. INSPECTION/OIL CHANGE takes a fkn HOUR and I had to pay for new windshield wipers. GODDAMIT. Missed pretty much all my classes today.

TOMORROW - supervisor will call me to work at 7 am. kill me. test, lab, responsibilities, vommit.

A Good Week

To be quite honest, I don't remember everything that happened this week. I had 3 tests, which sucked, and barely completed the homework I had due, but somehow I still had a PRETTY GOOD WEEK.

It's weird, I feel like I have no "BFFs" anymore, but I kind of like the position that it puts me in. I hang out with people I feel like hanging out with whenever there's something going on/I feel like it. Ya kno?

Last night I went to see Katie O'Hare (YES KATIE, SHE RULES and her b00bz got my friend through 8th grade math ) and hung out with her friends who all live "on that side" of campus (the white, preppy, "rich") side... but they were all cool as shit and we chilled until they went to bars, then I went over to Jscott's and we all know where it went from there. (madden NFL, Lil Wayne, Nokomis passed out, etc.)

But yeah, today I woke up, went to the water treatment plant (I kind of want to work at a WTP or WWTP,) then went to a class where I remembered my love for MATHEMATICIANS ...

The sub professor was a ZANY AZN who reminded my of Arthur (luv u Arthur,) and I remembered how I really do love people that are exceptionally good at math...

So then I went back to JScotts and borrow OC (pronounced OCKKKK,) their raging PIT BULL who basically lives in a closet. So Suzie and I took him to a vineyard to run around and play (and scare the white families who were flying kites and taking pics of their babies to BLOG about later probz.) He got a C grade at the Vineyard for being a fucker with the leash and getting too hyper (and biting my arm and leaving a massive bruise.) Then we went to the downtown mall and had some Splendora's Gelato. He got a B grade at the DT Mall for being well behaved, getting compliments for being so cute (via old couple who then made a face when I said "Oh, he's a pit",) and even whimpering when he saw a pit bitch instead of barking and flipping out (he was trying to get ROMANTICAL.)

After I got home, I decided to drive a bit, and had a beautiful block 22 while reading GQ. I'm at "HOPE, we know you've had a million reasons to feel gloomy," ... but here are some reasons not to... THESE are my top 5 (in THEIR order, not mine.)

1) FIVE GUYS IS EXPANDING, with 175 NEW LOCATIONS THIS YEAR. I'm a VEGAN, and i LOVE FIVE GUYS.

2) CHRISTIAN BALE AS BATMAN. And I'll add IMAX movies, and TERMINATOR SALVATION to this one too.

3) RED BULL COCA COLA... haven't tried it, but it's made with real sugar. And apparently goes well with Jack.

Then Saturday I saw some bands play at "The Laundromat" a.k.a. Nihal's basement, and I met some cool people, saw some good bands (I actually really like St... whatever's Hospital...) and then hung out at Tegan's after with Klucas, Mike Quist, and a purple box. It was a pretty good weekend, I got lots of rest, and I'm sort of prepared for the next week which will be BRUTAL. I got 4 tests, a bunch of homework, some shows to go to, and summer finances to figure out. WOOHOOO

Why do I do such stupid things?

My academics this year,

my lovely, lonely, 3rd year in engineering school,

are going much better than my first two years...

No surprise there, I spent my first two years "adjusting" to college life,

aka eating gelato, drinking with my gatos, and going to shows instead of going to class.

But sometimes I wish I had the personal life of a boring, white girl.

wait...NO I DON'T! But, you know what I mean.

Anyways, Tuesday I didn't finish all my homework but went to see Nihal's n Larson's bands anyways. It was kinda trashy, but fun. Nihal's band with high school kiddies was...ridiculous. I was chillin' with some bus drivers, and I had a pretty good time. I want to go into more detail, but I'll just sum it up with NIHAL PUKED IN MY CAR.

After the show, I was bored and curious so I went downstairs and stumbled upon this "GOTH" dance party... It was actually hilarious. There were like 15 people there...

While I don't like to shit on other subcultures, these people were straight up... silly. They kind of reminded me of those Lord of the Rings losers in middle school and the LARPERS in high school, only all grown up and with nothing to be a part of.

Some of them had decent style, cause I think goth style CAN be cool, but most of them just dressed like SHIT. But anyways, I met a nice young man who helped me carry Nihal home. After nihal puked in my car, I kicked him out on 14th street, then went back to get him after "cooling down." He of course remembers NONE of this. asshole.

Here are UVA, people in engineering school act like... if you don't have some brilliant engineering career plan, a proposed thesis project, and a job lined up for you in 2 years, you're a failure.

These people need to chill the fuck out.

While most people think I have my head in my ass, I'm applying to 2 internships. Considering the amount of nerds everywhere, I probably won't get them. So if my plan fails, I'll figure something out. And if I don't, then I'll just travel and chill. GOD FORBID I HAVE FUN IN MY 20s.

Right now, my list of priorities includes:
- seeing miguel and cabelle this weekend
- my trip to PUERTO RICO (WOOOOOH MIGUEL GOT A TICKET)
- debating whether or not I should go to this UTS party tonight
- breaking my 2 week "party" hiatus
- finishing my applications.

IN WHAT KIND OF GOD-FORSAKEN PLACE DOES IT TAKE 10 MINUTES TO GET A GRANDE SOY LATTE?

The dumb skank in front of me took 5 minutes to order a "non-fat" drink which the cashier then had to explain couldn't actually be non-fat but it was relatively close so the girl was like "okay." Then it took her 2.5 more minutes to choose a fucking breakfast "meal" after asking the cashier to explain what each one (of about 10 options) was. REALLY? READ THE FUCKING SIGNS. AND DECIDE BEFORE YOU WASTE MY LIFE ORDERING.

THEN the dumbass barista who had a total of... 0 drinks to make before mine... took 5 minutes in making my soy beverage because basically she's an idiot who takes her hum-diddley-doo of a good time making beverages at a coffee shop where her only job is to EFFICIENTLY MAKE COFFEE.

I GET THAT I'M IN "THE SOUTH" BUT REALLY? REALLY?

Don't even get me started on the army skanks who can't drive SUVs, especially while on their cell phones. TWO times in the brief 10 minutes that I spent driving this morning did I want to massacre SUV drivers.

One car broke down at an intersection, and the SUV skank behind them didn't think to GO AROUND, so I sat through 2 light cycles because I didn't have enough room to make a left turn thanks to this genius skank who literally took 2 minutes to be like "OH SHIT, maybe I should GO AROUND." and THEN while in the driveway of an apartment complex that is meant for 2 vehicles, a dumb skank in an EXCURSION of sorts blocked THE WHOLE DRIVEWAY, and being the dick that I am, I didn't move. But then I immediately regretted my decision . Here's why... Skanks in excursions take 3 minutes to reverse due to

1) their lack of DRIVING ABILITY/INTELLIGENCE
2) the lack of visibility when your car is the size of a FUCKING BOAT.

Today was a very good UVA day. I worked at 7 am and even though I was exhausted, I had some good LOLZ on my bus. I saw some old pals, made some jokes, laughed at some bitches, then got Starbucks and went to class. After class I passed out in this e-school lounge and woke up (an hour and a half later) to a guy that was like ...

"you gotta a 2 o'clock class?"

"yep yep."

"oh yeah. are you new to the nap circuit?"

" uhhh... yeah I guess so. I got some time on Thursdays and I work in the mornings"

Then I went to another boring class. Then I went to this Google presentation about job opportunities with Google and this awesome summer program they have for undergrad students. I fell in love and want to work for Google (obviously.) I want to name my 1st born Google. I would give up sexy timez for Google.

Anyways... then I went back to the Spanish House and hung out with GINA AND KARLA~~ OMG GATAS!!! I was so excited.

Then I went to a talk about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and while I get a little emotional about these things, I kept it cool and I fell in love with one of the speakers <3<3<3.

Then I drove another shift and all was chill. I saw some stupid UVa bitches because it's "rush" or some shit. Then I saw two of my friends who were super drunk and I just laughed. Then some guys got on my bus and asked me to go out with them and they'd buy me shots. Lolz. Then I saw this really cute boy and I acted retarded.

Then I came home and the fuckers infront of the Spanish House don't know how to park so I left then kind notes with little diagrams teaching them how to fit 4 cars in a space meant FOR FOUR FUCKING CARS.

and now I'm here. blogging. wasting my life away. hungry and shit.

little baby Latarian had his first visit to the vet yesterday.

after discovering a wound on his belly, i had a panic attack,
i disinfected it (which hurt him a lot and i pretty much cried)
and then i separated him from little 'dron.

so yesterday we went to the vet and got some
painkillerz - once a day
antibiotix - twice daily
and some disinfectants to clean the wound twice a day.
(a total of an $84 visit...)

the vet thinks Ladron bit him :-(
but we're not really sure.
